A yacht, a journey and a new chapter

From Folie A2 to Aurelia Blue

Folie A2 is still the yacht. Aurelia Blue is the experience we share with our guests — currently in the Caribbean, but created to travel wherever the journey leads.

Why the name changed

Some changes begin with a new yacht. Ours began with a clearer understanding of what we wanted to create aboard the yacht we already knew, trusted and called home.

What changed

  • The name under which we welcome our guests
  • A clearer international identity
  • A name that can travel beyond one region
  • A stronger distinction between yacht and experience

What did not change

  • Our yacht, Folie A2
  • Sarah and Chris as her owners and crew
  • Our personal, owner-operated approach
  • The history and experience behind every voyage
The yacht behind the name

The yacht is still Folie A2

For us, Folie A2 has never been merely a name painted on a hull. It belongs to the yacht’s history and to the life we built aboard her.

She carried us away from familiar shores and into a new way of living. Every passage, repair, anchorage and decision has added another layer to our relationship with her.

There was therefore no reason to erase that identity. Folie A2 remains the name of the yacht and continues to carry the story with which our journey began.

Aurelia Blue has a different role. It is the name of the sailing experience that gradually developed aboard her: personal voyages, carefully chosen places, good food, small guest groups and enough freedom for a journey to feel genuinely individual.

A name for the next chapter

Why Aurelia Blue?

The new name needed to be clear enough for today, but broad enough for everything that may still lie ahead.

01

Easier to hear, spell and remember

Folie A2 often required an explanation. Aurelia Blue is easier to recognise across several languages, while still sounding distinctive and personal.

02

Warm light, blue water and open horizons

Aurelia carries an association with golden light. Blue connects the name with the sea, distance and the open water through which our journey continues.

03

A name that can travel

The Caribbean is our current cruising ground, not a permanent boundary. Aurelia Blue can remain with the experience wherever Folie A2 and future chapters may take us.

04

A small practical advantage

Aurelia begins with the letter A. That places the name near the beginning of alphabetical directories and partner lists — not the main reason, but a useful detail.

More than a new logo

The concept had grown beyond a yacht name

When Folie A2 first became part of our lives, the focus was naturally on the yacht herself: learning her systems, preparing her for long-distance cruising and turning her into a reliable home under sail.

Over time, we realised that guests were not simply looking for a cabin on a sailing boat. They were looking for a way to experience life under sail that would be difficult to organise on their own.

Some come for the sailing. Others come for the islands, secluded anchorages, nature, swimming, snorkelling, local food or the simple pleasure of watching a new coastline appear from the deck.

The experience is also shaped by Sarah’s technical knowledge, Chris’s decades of professional kitchen experience, the familiarity that comes from living aboard our own yacht and a deliberately small number of guests.

The yacht remains central, but she is no longer the whole story. Aurelia Blue gives that larger experience a name of its own.

The current chapter

The Caribbean is where the story is unfolding today. It is not necessarily where it will end.

Folie A2 was built for ocean passages, and our journey was never intended to remain inside one fixed sailing area. Aurelia Blue therefore had to be a name capable of crossing oceans and continuing into destinations we have not yet reached.

How the two names belong together

The original idea

Folie à Deux

Two people sharing an idea that seemed slightly crazy to many others: buying a large ocean yacht and going travelling.

The yacht

Folie A2

A shorter, more practical and more distinctive version of the original name — and the name the yacht still carries.

The experience

Aurelia Blue

A memorable international identity for the personal sailing experiences that grew aboard Folie A2.

The next chapter

Folie A2 is the yacht that carries us. Aurelia Blue is the experience that travels with her.
